Missouri Entrepreneurship Challenge 2013 and 2014

Our Team:

Evan Kirsch
Founder & CEO

Evan Kirsch began his entrepreneurial life in real estate. And while his company grew fast, and well beyond his initial projections, he left its daily management to return to the UMKC Bloch School of Business and the Regnier Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Since then, the blur of accolades and success has only reinforced his drive and vision. He was one of 20 students nationally selected for Seth Godin’s 2012 Summer Seminar in New York City, he’s won the 2012 Student Entrepreneur of the Year at UMKC and the 2012 and 2013 UMKC Venture Creation Challenges. He is, as well, a distinguished E-Scholar at the Regnier Institute.

Evan is the founder and CEO of FolioMatch, an education-focused start-up. FolioMatch provides all students, not just artists, with an online portfolio to collect and show off their top achievements, projects and experiences including websites they’ve coded, artwork they’ve created, robots they’ve built, and much more. FolioMatch’s algorithms then pair that with their academic record and match them to colleges where they will most likely succeed and with scholarships they are uniquely qualified to receive. Beyond that, their analytics tracking platform allows any organization, school or business to track their investment through the analysis of student progress and achievement. FolioMatch has been accepted into Digital Sandbox, Launch KC and SparkLab KC start-up accelerator programs.

Outside of work Evan provides portfolio coaching to students in the Blue Valley CAPS programs, is a mentor, and a motivational speaker for high school students seeking to pursue ideas and turn them into business models. Evan enjoys reading, traveling, and as a hockey play for over 18 years from Pittsburgh, PA, he rarely misses a Penguin’s game.

Carson Oldson

Carson is a web developer with a diverse background in infrastructure, development, and mobile applications. While he’s specifically skilled in all things .NET, he also has a multitude of web-specific skill-sets (HTML5, JavaScript, AJAX, and Responsive Design). His focus at FolioMatch is implementing new features, improving the overall UI, and working closely with Evan to maintain and improve the site’s overall efficacy, stability and scalability.

Carson is constantly looking for anything new in the technology ecosystem. Staying up to date on the newest technologies, and keeping up with the newest web design trends are a hobby of this technocrat.
